2006. Facebook reaches 12m users. The first Tweet is sent. And Aaron Mann launches a social media monitoring startup focused on what consumers are saying about brands and products. As social media gains scale, clients begin asking, “How can I meet my customers in social?”

Socialarc was founded to help clients answer this question. Almost a billion Facebook users later, it’s easy to forget how early we are in the development of this new medium. It makes coming to work every day both fun and challenging. Meet our team:

Aaron Mann - CEO, Chief Strategist

Aaron leads client strategy and loves the challenge of bringing the rapidly evolving social world to life within an overall brand strategy. His work with clients and agency partners is a constant learning experience and helping make all the parts work together is what he enjoys most. Before founding Socialarc, Aaron started a social media technology company and had led global product development and client service teams for public companies and way too many tech startups.

Aaron is an avid rock climber, cyclist, and skier/boarder. He's teaching his daughter chess because she's killing him at Plants vs. Zombies.

John Tonini - SVP, Social Media Solutions

John leads Business Development and Social Intelligence. Since 2007, John has worked directly with top brands including Microsoft, Mars Candy, Omniture, Mayo Clinic, Intuit, Paypal and Warner Brothers as well as leading agencies including Digitas, LBi Icon Nicholson, Porter-Novelli, and Engauge to formulate social media strategy based on insights gained from customer conversations.

He has helped launch a number of SaaS solutions and is addicted to startups. He basically works to pay for golf lessons and green fees. He likes spinach.

Steve Bratman, Vice President, Socialarc

Steve Bratman - VP, Client Solutions

Steve brings a wealth of experience working with leading brands to deliver successful marketing and PR campaigns, across all media platforms. He has collaborated with Google, Intel, Cisco, Amazon, Activision, Toyota, Wells Fargo and Virgin America, to name a few. Earlier in his career, he worked as a journalist for CBS News and CNN and is passionate about storytelling and making his clients look good.

Steve lives in Piedmont, California in a household with many female influences. These include his wife, two daughters and two cats (would like to have a dog, preferably male). He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is proud to be a Badger.

Shawna Gwin Krasts - VP, Strategic Accounts

Shawna has more than 15 years of experience working for consumer technology and financial services firms such as Visa, Intuit, Ofoto (now Kodak Gallery), and MTV Networks. She has a passion for effective marketing and great consumer experiences whether she is working on credit card services or a new way to discover music. She received her MBA from Kellogg.

Shawna lives with her family in Burlingame, CA where she is "room mom" for her daughter's first grade class and serves on the Support Committee for the Shelter Network. She loves scuba diving, fly fishing, photography, and travel.

Carol Rooney - VP, Client Services

Carol joined Socialarc in 2009. She draws from her extensive experience working for technology firms such as Lucent, Zhone, and Riverbed for her current role at Socialarc. As Vice President of Client Services, she oversees both our Outreach and Community Management teams, working closely with clients to keep campaigns running smoothly and successfully. She began her career in Human Relations management, developing staffing solutions for clients such as Gap, Lucent, and Oracle. Her social media career began with imbee.com, where she worked with clients such as National Geographic Kids and PBS Kids.

Carol resides in Berkeley, CA with her husband and son, where she is the ringleader and go-to planner for all things social and, even at home, all things social media. She can often be found tweeting, Pinning and Liking her passions of food trucks, tea, and travel.

cristian gonzales

Cristian Gonzales - Director of Strategy

Cristian helps develop strategic direction and creative marketing plans for our clients grounded in social intelligence and digital research. A Media graduate from Hunter College in NYC, Cristian managed international video projects for SPIN Magazine and developed new client proposals at Edelman Digital before joining Socialarc. He additionally served as one of the company's Cultural Ambassadors, helping the agency be a more collaborative, dynamic work environment.

On his off-time, Cristian loves attending concerts, tweeting like a madman, and volunteering to help pets get adopted at the San Francisco SPCA. He hopes to one day be on-stage with Madonna or have a guest spot on 'South Park.'

 

jenine durland

Jenine Durland, Creative Manager, Strategy

As part of the Strategy team, Jenine helps design social engagements, ensuring that each project is developed in the most innovative, creative and visually appealing way possible. A native of the East Bay, Jenine joined the Socialarc team after earning her Masters in Interactive Telecommunications from Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. She has developed interactive projects with the City of New York, MoveOn.org, Potion Design, and the New York Hall of Science, in addition to nationally-recognized animation and video work. A teacher, interactive artist and published poet, she brings an ever-widening range of creative expertise & interactive design experience to the Socialarc team.

When not at work, you'll find Jenine out on a trail with her big dog, cooking, yoga-ing, and reading books printed on paper.

 

Ernest Kuo

Ernest Kuo – Senior Project Manager

Ernest joined Socialarc in 2012 as a Senior Project Manager. In this role he works closely with campaign owners to manage project deliverables from inception to execution while also serving as a point of contact with agency partners and clients. After graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in Marketing and Communications, Ernest started working on the agency side in the automotive industry before relocating to California for warmer weather. Since then he has held positions with small technology companies as well as time spent at Accenture working on Fortune 500 client accounts. He is now looking forward to being part of the dynamic world of social media.

On his off-time, Ernest can be found coaching a collegiate Taekwondo team, participating in various outdoor activities or spending time with friends.

Gray McCarty, Strategist

Gray joined Socialarc as a Strategist after working in marketing and PR with Apple, john st. Advertising, and global toy company Spin Master. A recent graduate of Business with a marketing concentration from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, Gray enjoys learning about consumer behavior and applying these principles to marketing and media. He spends way too much time on the internet and enjoys movies, exploring his new home of San Francisco, and learning useless trivia.

Fun fact: in 2010 Gray ran with the Olympic Torch as part of the relay leading up to the opening ceremony of the games.

Julie Mann – Controller

Julie caught the start-up bug back in 1999 when she joined an idealab!-incubated company called firstlook.com. The fast pace, cutting edge technology, and ridiculous budgets quickly turned her into an addict, and fueled a passion to help start-ups succeed in an often confusing and intimidating reporting environment. She has spent a decade working for various internet and development companies, moving on to Syncata and eventually Tastebook.

Prior to firstlook, Julie spent nine years working in the CPA industry, handling financial preparation, agency compliance and tax preparation for small to medium-sized businesses. It was with Staggs & Company, CPA that she learned the importance of integrity in business and holding clients to a higher standard.

Living in Berkeley, Julie enjoys the bounty of amazing food available to fuel her favorite hobby, cooking. She torments her family with new concoctions, and continually revises her cookbook, The Cranky Chef. She also enjoys any artistic endeavor, and is passing this love for arts and crafts to her daughter, Ivy.

Michael Lee – Social Media Manager, Engagement

Michael currently works as a Social Media Manager, overseeing day-to-day tasks for social outreach campaigns and reporting. His previous experience as a reporter has prepared him for copywriting for various campaigns. He is excited to delve deeper into the world of social media and looks forward to working more closely with clients.

In both his free time and work, Michael loves doodling, reading and writing, and coming up with puns of the lame variety. He knows that, although not always appreciated, a pun is its own reword.

Vivian Ung – Social Media Manager, Engagement

A graduate of UC Davis, Vivian joined Socialarc in 2010. Having started as a Digital Outreach Coordinator, she is very familiar with the social outreach and reporting processes. Now as a Social Media Manager, she is excited to be working more closely with clients and taking a larger role in day-to-day project management. Growing with Socialarc has not only proved to be an exciting experience for her, but also a fantastic outlet for her love of social media.

When she is not in front of a computer or glued to her phone, Vivian enjoys playing with her two dogs, trying new restaurants and attempting to cook.

Joel Muratalla - Social Media Manager, Operations

As a Social Media Manager, Joel ensures that our outreach campaigns are executed as effectively and efficiently as possible. Having majored in mass communications at U.C. Berkeley, Joel explored the worlds of news broadcasting, media justice advocacy, video production/editing, web start-ups and public relations before finding his home in social marketing. Throughout his time at Socialarc, Joel has gained invaluable experience with social outreach, community management, listening, database management and developing our extensive operational procedures.

When Joel isn't in front of a computer (which is rare), he enjoys talking to people about what he saw or read online.

Alexa Alioto

Alexa Alioto – Social Media Manager, Community

After graduating from St. John's NYC with a degree in Public Relations, Alexa began working at A&E Television where she explored the world of Community Management.

She loves attending music festivals, watching Real Housewives of Anywhere, and dancing like a mad woman. She is also a self-proclaimed "wannabe foodie" and swears by learning about cultures through their local fare.

Skylar Schock - Community Management Lead

Skylar is a graduate of UC San Diego, where she studied Communication. She's interested in the role social media is playing in changing marketing, and looks for ways to incorporate this knowledge to help non-profits. In addition to working and writing, she enjoys dancing, acting, and outdoor activities. She loves cooking, shopping, being with friends and always has a cup of coffee!

Briana graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Advertising and began interning in the Public Relations field soon after. Briana then joined the Public Relations team at Kodak Gallery, where she found her passion for Social Media and Community Management.

Briana enjoys blogging, and cheering on her favorite American Idol contestant. Often times, she’s performing both of these tasks simultaneously. She is insanely obsessed with pinning recipes on Pinterest that she will never get around to actually making. She lives in Antioch with her husband and three wonderful children.

Chris enjoys consuming media across all platforms. He's an avid music enthusiast, film geek, blog, novel and news article reader, and television watcher. Emily Friedlander – Community Management Coordinator

After graduating from American University with a degree in marketing, Emily took a chance and moved to San Francisco to pursue her passions of social media and technology.  Emily's past work experiences include internships at both for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations: before joining Socialarc, she worked as a freelance social media consultant.

When not at work, you can usually find Emily wandering all around her new home of San Francisco, including hunting down her favorite food trucks and hanging out at museums on free admission days. Emily also loves to cook, and she dreams of one day winning Chopped on the Food Network.

Having just finished her Masters in Culture Studies, Nikole is promoting her 12th grade curriculum she created around Equality and Ecology around the Bay Area. During her free time she enjoys playing on a Co-Ed soccer team, writing short stories and poetry and most of all dancing through life.
